When an AV fistula or graft needs to be surgically revised or salvaged, intraoperative flow measurements take the guesswork out of such revisions by providing the surgeon with quantitative data to help guide surgical decision during a procedure. To measure flow is to know flow. Knowing flow adds one more quantitative dimension to a surgeon’s armamentarium that will either clarify and substantiate a clinical impression or challenge it with real flow data. Ultimately, the patient is best served by intraoperative measurements.
