Organ Preservation Devices
Organ preservation devices are critical to making more transplant organs available.Over 100,000 patients in the USA alone are on the organ transplant list, awaiting THE call that may save their lives. Everyday 18 of those die having not gotten that call. More people signing up to be donors can help reduce the loss of life. Use of organ preservation devices can maximize the use of donated organs - ensuring that they are in top condition for transplant.
"Transonic® Inside" flow measurement improves functionality of organ preservation devices. What could be more appropriate than to continuously measure the flow in apparatus designed to provide isolated organ perfusion?

Waters Medical Systems' RM3 Renal Perfusion System is a full function pump and monitor designed specifically for renal pulsatile preservation. During preservation prior to being used in transplant, the system automatically calculates resistance (opposition of flow) through the kidney by dividing the mean pressure by the flow.
Renal flow is measured with a Transonic customized flow sensor. Flow determines how the kidney will interface physiologically with the transplant recipient and whether or not the patient will have to be dialyzed following transplant.
