Set Pump Occlusion The Transonic flowsensor provides a rapid and convenient method for setting pump occlusion.
Monitor Arterial Delivery throughout Long ECMO Runs The ECMO procedure typically lasts 7 - 10 days. During this time, there can
be a change in tubing compliance or pump occlusion that affects flow delivery. Continuous monitoring with the Transonic flowsensor ensures that the optimal perfusion
level is maintained throughout the ECMO run.
Monitor Patency of Venous Catheter Many ECMO centers employ a secondary venous catheter in the jugular vein to
augment venous flow. Due to the low flow rates in these cannulas (often less than 100 ml/min), and the fact that they are extremely position sensitive, there is a risk
of their clotting off within 24 hours. Continuous monitoring of flow in the venous catheter allows early detection of insufficient flow and helps maintain the patency
of these catheters throughout the ECMO run.
